We didn't use the shower, I didn't bring any slippers. Not helping were the other guests, I think this adjusts to the type of hotel.
Screaming, talking, running and bouncing on doors in the middle of the night. I've been in much cheaper hotels which were MUCH better.

We had decided to say here we had been traveling for over 14,hours so warn out first of all we struggled to get in the car park as the barrier was not working properly so had to go to the resection and ask the Hotel resepsoinist was not a very welcoming it was she was not at all interested in use at all she never smiled once we got our key cards for the rooms which did not work so had to go back down stairs for them to be redone when we finally got in to our room it was clean very very small it is the smallest room we have ever stayed in with wood chip paper on the walls there where no tea or coffee and no kettle so I went down again and asked if we could have a kettle her reply was they did not have any so if you are like us want to make a cup of tea find some where else we would not recommend this hotel ….

First and last visit at this hotel. I come often to the North of Essen and usually use Airbnb, but all my usual places were not available, so I decided to stay at the Ibis Budget Nord.
Never again. I am not spoiled and don't need much, but for the service and amenities offered the price is too much. I booked for four days. I checked in at the computer without a problem although later I saw that the computer froze.
However, the computer check-in is only good for the first night which I overlooked, my mistake. The next morning the manager at the reception did not remind me of that issue and I wasn't able to get into the hotel that night.
Had to sleep in the car! However, that didn't keep them from charging that night to my credit card. Also, after I came back the first night, the door to my room was open and the manager blamed me, but I was sure that I closed it and checked that it was closed I first asked to change to code for the door, which they cant do, but got a new room.
But the manager failed to inform me of the issue with the payment. The room is clean, but the shower and toilet reminded me of those in an RV.
The sink was across the room from the toilet, so not very practical and there was no trash bin next to the toilet. The entry area of the hotel and the hallways smelled of cigarette smoke.

Nice, clean accommodation near the city. It was a nice, clean with the exception of the stains on the carpet- still I do not understand why it has to be a carpet in hotels rooms and other public places!

The carpet on the floor around the bed was very badly stained and there were random paint spots on the wall opposite the bed. One of the towels had stains on it.
The bath pod seemed clean. I was forced to sleep with my clothes on, as I was disgusted from the room. The rooms on the second floor were much nicer - I had colleagues staying over there.
I asked the young man at the reception to put me in another room, but he said there were no other free rooms, so I was forced to stay in room I have even made some pictures of the room Thadeus T.
The very small bathroom was just a plastic container in one corner of the hotel room. The toilet behind one door without room to properly sit, the shower behind another.
The sink openly on the other side of the room. The walls needed painting for a while. The room stank like cigarettes, I woke up with a headache.
Sleeping with open window impossible, because of main street next by. We didn't get room for Non- smoker, obwohl we asked for.
Room was full with smell off cigarettes. Towels and bet covers also with strange smell. After reading the reviews, I was prepared for a hard bed, thin walls, and possible smoke smell in my room.
Well, the bed was a bit firm, but it was quiet and no smoke smell at all! I was very satisfied with this room for 5 nights. Breakfast was good for this low carb dieter too.
